Frequently Asked Questions

Who runs Network SQ?

We are a small committee with skills and experience in organising and planning, as well as a range of skills from our professional lives. We already have a wider group of interested providers of services from dance to gardening.

We are here to offer a fresh and innovative approach to support the well-being of people in Queensferry, with a specific focus on disabled people and families with a disabled family member.

We have support from two project staff from Edinburgh Development Group (EDG), a charity with 30 years’ experience of supporting disabled people and their families.

How can I know if my services are a good fit for your scheme?

We have a set of values that all members must commit to and a requirement of members to attend the free Confident about Disability training – if you agree with these standards that will help you decide if you want to be part of the network.

Do I need to pay a fee to register with the Network?

No, there’s no cost to you.

Can I visit clients in their homes to provide the service?

Yes, if that is part of your service and you have the necessary indemnity insurance.

Do I need reviews or recommendations to join? I’m just starting up my business.

No, but being part of the network might provide opportunities for you to get feedback (and testimonials) from other network members to help to raise your profile.

Does it matter if my business is not local?

The most important thing is that your service is provided in South Queensferry, and that people do not have to travel out of the area for it. But your business can be registered elsewhere and have other offices elsewhere.

Can you provide a list of clients I can contact?

Once you are a member, you can benefit from being able to promote your service on this platform to different audiences. We aim to develop a ‘matching service’ and you can potentially benefit from this.

How can I know if my services are a good fit for your scheme?

We have a set of standards that all members must commit to and a requirement of members to attend the free Confident about Disability training – if you agree with these values and standards that will help you decide if you want to be part of the network.

Can you provide premises that I can use to run my class or service?

No, we do not have premises, however, as part of the network you have the potential to meet other members who have premises for hire and/or arrangements and agreements can be made between you as individual traders/providers
